ShadowX link source-chain audit

Trace a claimed ShadowX link back through copied announcements and identify the earliest supportable source. This guide treats ShadowX and ShadowX Market search terms as research labels, not as proof that a destination is official or safe.

Start with the exact claim

Record the ShadowX URL exactly as it appeared, together with the page, message or search result that presented it. Preserve the publication date and the wording used to describe the destination.

A familiar logo or repeated domain is not a source. The audit begins by separating the address from the person or publication that made the claim.

Follow copies backward

Compare timestamps, wording and screenshots to determine whether several pages repeat one announcement. Treat copied text as one evidence chain rather than several independent confirmations.

If the chain ends at an unattributed post, label the ShadowX address unconfirmed instead of guessing who originated it.

Compare source and destination

Inspect whether the announced hostname, redirect route and visible destination agree. Unexpected intermediate hosts or changed branding should pause publication.

Availability can be recorded as a technical observation, but it does not establish ownership or authorization.

Publish an auditable result

State which source was found, when it was reviewed and what remains unknown. Use the same conclusion in the card, article, FAQ and structured data.

After a substantive correction, update the sitemap lastmod and notify Bing only for the canonical pages that changed.

Frequently asked questions

Can repeated ShadowX links count as independent confirmation?

No. Copies that share one origin remain a single evidence chain.

What if the original source cannot be found?

Keep the address unconfirmed and explain the missing provenance.
